Offering a marina from which to launch boats and cruise around the lake, Great Salt Lake State Park has swimming areas and scenic points from which to view the lake. The lake, with its 12% salinity level, is very bouyant, allowing swimmers to effortlessly float on its surface and the park has freshwater showers for afterwards. It is located 16 miles west of downtown Salt Lake City, just off the interstate, and is the closest place to the city from which to explore the famous body of water.
